(WEST LAFAYETTE) - Purdue University is now has joined more than 100 universities in a group effort to educate the next generation of engineers.
Its being called the National Engineering Education Initiative and William Oakes, professor of engineering and director of Engineering Projects in Community Services at Purdue, says that investing in the effort is an investment in our future.
The initiative is highlighting "grand challenges" like engineering better medicine, making solar energy more cost effective, securing cyberspace, and advancing personalized learning tools to help students.
Oakes says that they identified those areas specifically because technology breakthroughs there with significantly improve the human condition world wide.
