(VINCENNES) - A Vincennes woman has been charged with allegedly stealing nearly $10,000 from the Knox County Parks Department.
According to the Vincennes Sun Commercial The State Board of Accounts this week released the results of an audit done last fall after discrepancies were found with the department's cash balance and receipts.
The report accuses 25-year-old Amberly Pennell of taking just over $9,800 while working in the department office between January and July in 2014.
She was arrested in March and has since posted a $5,000 bond, according to jail staff.
A trial date has been set for August 18.
Prosecutors say Pennel has another theft case also pending in Superior Court I. She was arrested by city police in December 2014 after allegedly scamming Walmart out of a $148 in merchandise credit. That occurred in October 2014, and a trial date has been set for that charge for May 26.
