(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus man was arrested Monday morning after a pursuit in a stolen car. Sgt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department, says that officers were called to the 1900 block of Timbercrest Drive for a report of a stolen vehicle at about 6:15 a.m. Monday.
A homeowner told police he went outside to start his car and it was gone.
A Columbus police officer saw a vehicle matching the description of the stolen car near 25th Street and Marr Road. When he attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly refused to pull over.
The driver eventually stopped near 18th and Gilmore streets then allegedly attempted to run away.
19 year-old Tyler Houchens of Columbus was arrested after a short foot chase.
Houchens was taken to Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of auto theft, resisting law enforcement in a vehicle and resisting law enforcement on foot.
