(LOUISVILLE) - Louisville Metro Police say they have arrested a Henryville, Indiana woman after she was found inside a vehicle with marijuana, a needle and two small children.
WDRB reports that it happened on E. Saint Catherine Street, near S. Preston Street, on Friday, at 10:45 a.m., according to an arrest report.
Police say they were called to the scene after someone reported seeing a woman passed out behind the wheel of a purple PT Cruiser with a needle in her hand and two children in the vehicle.
According to the arrest report, an officer found 26-year-old Katie Khadka, "alert and conscious." Police say she was checked out by EMS, and there was a 4-year-old and a 15-month-old in the rear of the vehicle.
Khadka gave police permission to search her vehicle, according to the report, and police say they found a marijuana pipe and a small amount of marijuana in a cigarette pack in the vehicle's glove box.
Police say Khadka denied having any needles, but an officer found one syringe hidden in her underwear.
According to the arrest report, Khadka's actions, "created a substantial danger of death, serious injury to her children." She allegedly told police that she had "relapsed two weeks ago."
She was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree wanton endangerment, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
