(CLINTON) - A Montezuma man was arrested after he was found passed out in his vehicle with his 9-year-old daughter.
Indiana State Police Troopers and Clinton Police Officers responded to a complaint of an unconscious male sitting in a blue 1999 Ford Explorer at Riverside Park in Clinton.
When officers arrived they found the male unconscious.
After waking 36-year-old Brandon Maitre of Montezuma they immediately discovered, in plain view, approximately two grams of what they believed was marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Maitre appeared intoxicated and failed all field sobriety tests. A subsequent chemical test at Terre Haute Regional Hospital revealed he tested positive for marijuana and opiates. Maitre was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, OWI with a minor, neglect of a dependant, possession of marijuana and reckless possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to the Vermillion County Jail.
His 9-year-old old daughter, was not injured and was released to a family friend. Indiana Department of Child Services in Vermillion County was notified and currently conducting a follow-up investigation.
The case was investigated by ISP Trooper Tim Rader. Assisting were ISP Master Trooper Gary Winters and Clinton Police Officer Justin Nelson.
