About Nancy A. Maloley & The Nancy A. Maloley Outstanding Public Servant Award
The Nancy A. Maloley Public Servant Award recognizes a Hoosier Republican woman who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to serving the public good through appointed governmental and political office. The namesake for this award was the epitome of a dedicated public servant. For nearly three decades, Nancy served in a number of capacities in Indiana and Washington, D.C. She devoted her talents to the administrations of Presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush and on the staffs of Congressman Ross Adair and Senator Richard Lugar. Governor Robert D. Orr also named Nancy as the first Director of the newly created Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
Nancy's commitment to public service and environmental issues was recognized by Harvard University where she served as a Fellow at the Institute of Politics. The state of Indiana also recognized her public service contributions and named her to the Board of Visitors of the I.U. School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
This award is given annually to an individual who has worked in the public sector at the local, state or national level for a minimum of five years. The criteria are reflective of the talents Nancy possessed: dedication to public service; creative approach to problem solving; intellectual competency; and effective management and leadership.
