(LANESVILLE) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an injury ATV accident that occurred at around 5:45 p.m. Monday in Harrison County near Lanesville.
The accident, on Gleitz Blank Road, involved two separate ATVs.
The operator of the first ATV, a 15-year-old juvenile, attempted to negotiate a curve in the roadway and lost control, rolling the ATV and colliding with several trees along the side of the roadway.
The second ATV, operated by 22-year-old Jacob Zeller of Lanesville, left the roadway and rolled on an embankment after he turned his head to observe what had happened to the other ATV/operator.
Both operators were both taken by ambulance to University of Louisville Hospital. The juvenile suffered several fractures and a collapsed lung. Zeller suffered a fractured arm and dislocated wrist. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the incident.
Indiana Conservation Officers strongly urge riders and passengers to always wear a helmet and to have necessary safety equipment and training when operating an ATV to prevent or reduce possible injury.
