Last updated on Friday, April 17, 2015

(UNDATED) - The 2015 Walmart Bass Fishing League season will continue with six tournaments on Saturday, April 25.

The Cowboy division will take on the Red River; the Hoosier division opens at Lake Monroe; the Mississippi division heads to Pickwick Lak;, the Mountain division competes on Dale Hollow Lake; the Savannah River division will tackle Lake Hartwell and the Shenandoah division stops at Kerr Lake.

Up to 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000 respectively in the one-day events.

Cowboy Division

Red River
Grand Ecore Recreation Area
1071 Tauzin Island Road
Natchitoches, La.

NOTES: The bass fishing on the Red River is expected to be good. Local reports indicate the water temperatures are in the mid-sixties, which means bass will be active and moving to their spawning locations. Anglers will mostly be fishing the main river around cover like wood and grass mats. Popular baits this time of year include spinnerbaits, creature baits and jig-n-craw riggings. A five-bass limit weighing 15 pounds is expected to win this tournament.

Hoosier Division

Lake Monroe
Cutright Ramp
4850 S. State Road 4463
Bloomington, Ind.

NOTES: Lake Monroe is expected to produce some quality stringers this tournament. Anglers will find fish near deep points and breaks as bass move into pockets. Previous winners have found sizable bass in bushes located in the backs of these pockets. Local reports also indicate largemouths are being caught along emerging weed lines. Jigs, buzzbaits and creature baits will all be utilized by anglers. Five bass totaling 14 pounds are expected to take top honors.

Mississippi Division

Pickwick Lake
JP Coleman State Park
613 County Road 321
Iuka, Miss.

NOTES: Pickwick Lake always fishes well this time of year. Local reports indicate bass are active along bluffs, in the backs of main-lake pockets and are being caught on main-lake flats using Carolina rigs. Spots above the Pickwick Dam are producing a lot of sizable largemouth as well. Spinnerbaits in shallow water are also expected to be a strong pattern. A five-bass limit totaling 14 pounds will most likely take this tournament.

Mountain Division

Dale Hollow Lake
Star Point Resort
4490 Star Point Road
Byrdstown, Tenn.

NOTES: At Dale Hollow Lake, both prespawn and spawning fish will be found all over the lake this time of the season. Previous winners have found their winning bass coming from pockets off of the Wolf River. Typically filled with laydowns, logs and other cover, jigs and umbrella rigs should prove to be dominant for anglers choosing the Wolf River pattern. Other anglers will be seen fishing main-lake points with jigs and crankbaits. A 21-pound, five-bass limit is expected to tip scales in the winner's favor in this tournament.

Savannah River Division

Lake Hartwell
Tugaloo State Park
1763 Tugaloo State Park Road
Lavonia, Ga.

NOTES: Lake Hartwell is expected to fish well this tournament. This time of year many of this fish will be in the postspawn phase which means anglers will find them starting to suspend in deeper water. In order to catch these fish, anglers will reach for deep-diving crankbaits as well as underspins. Anglers may also choose to fish main-lake points where blueback herring are attracting bass. A 19-pound stringer with five bass will most likely win this tournament.

Shenandoah Division

Kerr Lake
New Nutbush Park
115 Jack Wade Farm Road
Henderson, N.C.

NOTES: Bass are expected to bite well on Kerr Lake this tournament. A popular pattern for tournament anglers will be to target the shad spawn. Anglers will be seen throwing Zoom Lizards and other creature baits along banks. Bass should also be found spawning in this event. In these conditions, medium or deep-diving crankbaits will be popular. A five-bass limit nearing 14 pounds will most likely take home the top prize.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 50 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and are competing to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing - the Walmart BFL All-American. The 2015 BFL All-American is being held June 18-20 on Kentucky Lake in Buchanan, Tennessee. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the Rayovac FLW Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.
