(UNDATED) - The BBB of Central Indiana is warning Hoosiers of a familiar scam that has popped up again this spring; contractors coming to your home unsolicited and offering an unbelievably low price for blacktopping or driveway resurfacing.
It's another variety of the typical "extra materials" scam this time of year.
Tim Maniscalo, President of the BBB serving central Indiana, says these individuals will provide low quality work, use low quality materials, and then be nowhere to be found when troubles arise. He says these are people looking to take advantage of you during the nice weather and during a time when you might be desperate for help and not diligent about checking credential.
The usual red flags exist with the scam like a lack of proper signage on work trucks, claims that they have "extra materials" from a previous job, and the demand of cash up front for the work.
You can always check the BBB's website to see if an offer you're getting is legitimate.
