(CROWN POINT) - A Gary man is being accused of neglect after police say his 6-year-old son shot his 3-year-old daughter in the hand while they were alone in the car.
The Munster Times reports 29-year-old Christopher D. Starks-Vaulx was charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, among other charges.
Court records say Starks-Vaulx left his son and daughter alone in his car May 8 and went to pick up his 9-month-old twins from a daycare. According to an affidavit, a loaded gun was in the car's center console.
The affidavit says the father returned to the car and found the gun had been moved, and then drove his daughter to the hospital.
