(CONNERSVILLE) - Saturday morning, just before 2 a.m. Fayette County Jail Staff found an inmate unresponsive in his cell.
Jail staff administered first aid and EMS was called to render aid, but was unsuccessful in their attempts to resuscitate 49-year-old Mark Conner of Connersville.
Conner had been incarcerated since April 24th on felony charges of strangulation and domestic battery as well as probation violation, and was awaiting trial.
The preliminary investigation conducted by Indiana State Police Investigators suggests that Conner took his own life.
An autopsy to determine the exact cause of death was conducted and results are pending. The investigation is ongoing.
