(INDIANAPOLIS) - Democratic state Sen. Karen Tallian makes formal announcement to run for Indiana governor.
The Porter County lawmaker announced her run at the Statehouse on Tuesday, making her the second Democrat to enter the race, joining former House Speaker John Gregg. Gregg narrowly lost to Republican Mike Pence in 2012.
Tallian told The (Munster) Times in a story published Sunday that she stands "for the Democratic, progressive point of view."
Tallian was appointed to the Senate in 2005 after her predecessor resigned and has since won three four-year terms. She is the top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee.
