(UNDATED) - The Indiana Toll Road has officially changed hands.
IFM Investors announced on Wednesday that the plan to purchase ITR Concessions Company, LLC is complete. ITR operates the Toll Road and had applied for bankruptcy in September.
IFM says they will make about $260 million in upgrades over the next five years including major improvements to the Toll Road plazas and pavement conditions. They believe that the new improvements will help enhance the customer experience and create to job opportunities for local workers in construction.
The original lease with the state will remain unchanged and IFM will continue to be held to the same standard as the previous operators. There are 66 years remaining on the lease.
The sale agreement came in at more than $5.7 billion for all of the assets of ITR Concessions, including the operations of the Toll Road.
