(MUNCIE) - Nearly two dozen puppies were found dead in a freezer at a Muncie home and business.
Shelter employees also removed 46 American bulldogs from Jake's Extreme Pets and Supplies.
23-year-old Jacob Pelfrey was arrested on multiple charges of animal cruelty.
Animal Control Director Phil Peckinpaugh says the animals were covered in mud and feces and were frightened by everyone's presence. Peckinpaugh said the establishment had been on his radar for quite some time, but it was a meter reader who noticed wounded dogs in the yard and filed a complaint.
