(HENRY CO) - A 27-year-old man and 7-year-old boy were injured this evening when the all terrain vehicle (ATV) they were riding on struck a culvert and flipped.
The accident happened along U.S. 40 just east of Knightstown. Investigators say the adult driver drove off a gravel path alongside the east side of the highway and into the grass. Apparently the driver did not see a large hole near a culvert. The ATV flipped throwing both passengers.
The 7-year-old was sitting in front of the driver--neither were wearing safety helmets. The boy was transported by a medical helicopter to Riley Hospital in serious condition. The adult driver was up and walking following the accident.
