(GRIFFIN) - 95 dogs were found inside a home in Griffin in Posey County.
Posey County Sheriff Greg Oeth says 72 of those dogs were being taken from the home Friday night 15 dogs were found dead.
Officials tell 14NEWS WFIE, the owner had surrendered 14 dogs to animal control not too long ago. Deputies believe that is what initially alerted surrounding residents of the problem.
PC Pound Puppies held a fundraising event in Evansville on Saturday. It was scheduled before they learned about what the situation in Griffin.
They raised over $1,000 for the dogs.
Amber Hoover of PC Pound Puppies says the immediate need is to find them a temporary housing shelter out of our current facility. We can start bringing in the dogs that we normally bring into the shelter, and to also get them the vetting that they'll need.
Hoover told us the shelter is now on lock down because they can't take any more dogs.
