(MORGAN CO.) - Sunday at 8:50 p.m., Indiana State Police Troopers responded to a one-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the 52 mile marker.
According to an Indiana State Police report, a black 1994 Pontiac was westbound on I-70, when the female driver lost control and spun off the north side of the roadway.
During the investigation, the female driver gave a false name and displayed classic signs of intoxication. She was finally identified as 49-year-old Candice Cooper, of Bainbridge, IN.
Cooper was taken to the Putnam County Hospital for a chemical test, where she tested positive for benzodiazepines. Cooper was also in possession of other pharmaceutical drugs without a prescription.
Cooper was arrested and taken to the Morgan County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, false identity statement, and operating while intoxicated under a controlled substance. Cooper was also cited for no valid driver's license. Cooper was not injured in the crash.
The case was investigated by ISP Trooper Jonathan Cumbie. Assisting was Trooper David Cox Jr.
