(MONTGOMERY CO.) - A road rage incident on Interstate 74 ended with shots fired and one arrest.
Indiana State Police said it all began near a construction zone about seven miles west of Crawfordsville. Troopers said a pickup truck, driven by 50-year-old Randall Robertson of Elwood, passed a semi on the right as the two lanes merged and slammed on his brakes. Investigators said the semi, from an Illinois carrier, was unable to stop and bumped Robertson's vehicle.
Troopers said both drivers continued east for about a mile, until Robertson again slammed on his brakes. But this time, he was rear-ended by the semi, driven by 56-year-old Mark White from Ohio.
State police said the two men started yelling at each other, and that's when Robertson pulled out a gun and fired several shots at White. White immediately called 911. Robertson also called police shortly after White.
Robertson was arrested at the scene on a preliminary felony charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
The case remains under investigation.
