(COLUMBUS) - An Alabama woman was charged with battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public intoxicated after she was stopped by police Sunday.
Columbus police say 38-year-old Ashley Holton of Grandy, Ala. scratched and kicked the officer while she was being detained.
According to Columbus Police Sgt. Matt Harris, officers responded to a disturbance on Union Street around 2 p.m. When they arrived they found Holton staggering in the street.
Police believed she was intoxicated and had her submit to a breath test. Her blood-alcohol level was 0.23 percent, twice the legal limit.
As officers took Holton into custody she allegedly scratched and kicked the legs of a female police officer as Holton was being searched for weapons. Officers had to restrain Holton's legs before she could be placed in a police vehicle and taken to jail.
