(SCHERERVILLE) - Northwest Indiana authorities say an 18-year-old woman has died three days after being found in the swimming pool at a pastor’s home where she had been babysitting.
Lake County Coroner Merrilee Frey said Tuesday that Domonique Smith of Crown Point was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at a hospital where she had been on life support.
The Munster Times reports that the coroner says Smith died from drowning.
She was found Friday afternoon in a pool at the home of Steve Munsey, the pastor of the Family Christian Center in Munster.
Police say Smith had been babysitting at the family's home at the time.
Schererville police Commander Brian Neyhart says Smith's death is believed to have been an accident but the case remains under investigation.
