Woman Fights Back After Facebook Post

Last updated on Thursday, June 4, 2015

(TERRE HAUTE) - A southwest Indiana woman was breastfeeding her son at TGI Fridays in Terre Haute when a male stranger snapped her picture without her knowledge and shared it on social media with his followers.

WTWO reports the male, who hasn't been named, wrote to his friends on Facebook and Instagram asking whether breastfeeding in public was appropriate or inappropriate, saying, "Your input is needed!"

The woman in question, Conner Kendall of Dugger, decided to fight back. After she addressed the male in a direct message, she took her message to Facebook with a post that's gotten more than 70,000 shares. Now, people worldwide are writing her and showing support.

Also on Kendall's side is local La Leche League support member Devon Kinne.

"I think a lot of moms are vilified or made to feel uncomfortable breastfeeding in public places because other people are making them feel uncomfortable and they're there to provide a meal for their child," said Kinne. "They're not there to show their breasts around. That's their number one focus is to feed and nurture their child and so we really have to educate the public in a way that they recognize that moms have that right."
