Woman Sentenced For Using Drugs With Kids In Motel Room

(TIPPECANOE CO.) - Erica Shires was sentenced to one year in jail after Lafayette police found drugs in her motel room with four children inside.

According to WLFI, she pleaded guilty last month to possession of a narcotic drug and neglect of a dependent.

Last November, officers were called a room at the Knights Inn because of a complaint that Shires was using heroin with children present.

Tippecanoe County prosecutors say she was also sentenced to two years of community corrections and two years on supervised probation.
