(AUBURN) - Authorities say a 16-year-old boy has died after the all-terrain vehicle he was riding struck a tree in rural DeKalb County in northeastern Indiana.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department says authorities responded to the scene shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday and found the teen had been thrown from the ATV. The teen wasn't wearing a helmet and was found unresponsive with severe head trauma.
According to the department, the teen was pronounced dead at a Fort Wayne hospital. His name has not been released.
The crash is being investigated by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
