(EVANSVILLE) - Evansville Police say they were forced to shoot two dogs after several people reported they were bitten and attacked.
Sgt. Patrick Phernetton told WFIE three people reported they were bitten by a pack of five dogs on Linwood Avenue.
An animal control officer arrived and was attacked, but wasn't bitten because he was able to fend off the dogs. That's when the dogs ran into their house.
Police say they made several attempts to see if anyone was home, then decided to go inside for the safety of those in the neighborhood.
Officers were able to remove three of the dogs, but the other two attacked them inside, so they were forced to shoot both of them.
