(VINCENNES) - Vincennes fire officials have ruled the cause of a fire at 617 N. 7th Street arson.
Firefighters were called to apartment building around 6:45 a.m. Friday morning.
Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff says an off-duty Vincennes Police officer was the first on the scene and managed to open the door to the apartment unit so firefighters could enter.
Pinkstaff says the fire was located in a unit at the back of the two story brick structure. He says the fire was contained to the apartment unit.
According to Pinkstaff, the owner of the apartment was not at home when the fire occurred.
There were no injuries.
The building is owned by Jerry Coonrod. Investigators from the State Fire Marshals Office and Vincennes Fire Department determined ruled the fire arson.
