(LAFAYETTE) - A central Indiana man has pleaded guilty to arson after authorities say he tried to set his in-laws’ house on fire and told officers he was kicked out of the home for cheating on his wife.
The Lafayette Journal and Courier reports 26-year-old Tyler Williams of Frankfort pleaded guilty Wednesday. A plea deal calls for a sentence of 16 to 50 years.
Authorities say his wife, her parents and three children were in the house when he poured gasoline on it in an attempt to set it aflame in June 2014.
Williams told a judge Wednesday that he did not mean to harm anyone, and decided to set the house on fire while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled next month.
