(NEW ALBANY) - A southern Indiana man is facing charges after stealing items from an Indiana National Guard armory.
In November of 2014, officials at the New Albany National Guard Armory reported that several military style tasers and pepper spray canisters had gone missing. Investigators soon found the items being sold on social media. Through the course of the investigation the Indiana State Police was able to locate over $10,000 worth of stolen items.
23-year-old Cody Proffit of New Albany who was arrested Thursday morning and charged with theft on a warrant issued in late May. Detectives say Proffit was not affiliated with the National Guard.
ISP Sgt. Jerry Goodin says they are still looking to recover several more tasers and pepper spray canisters. He says anyone with information on their whereabouts should contact Indiana State Police.
