(DECATUR) - A northern Indiana woman has avoided jail time and instead will serve probation for stuffing a sock in her 3-month-old baby’s mouth and taping it shut before leaving the infant face-down in a closed closet.
23-year-old Sasha Hunt of Berne was sentenced to 12 years probation for attempted aggravated battery.
Court documents say Hunt, who reportedly suffers from bi-polar disorder, had previously bruised the child, claiming "she wished that the baby had never been born."
