(BOONE CO.) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on I-865 shortly after midnight Saturday morning.
The accident happened near the five mile marker on the westbound side of I-865, near I-465 in Boone County.
According to police, 28-year-old Oscar Garnica was driving a Chrysler SUV when a female ran out into the roadway in front of the vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Garnica and two passengers were transported to Witham Hospital at Anson suffering from minor scrapes and cuts. What prompted the victim's action remains under investigation.
