(UNDATED) - In response to the shootings in Chattanooga, Governor Mike Pence is authorizing National Guard soldiers around the state to carry firearms on the job.
The executive order makes it legal for all Indiana National Guard solider's to be armed at National Guard facilities and recruiting offices.
Pence's statement read in part "as commander-in-chief of the Indiana National Guard, I will not permit our citizen-soldiers to remain unable to defend themselves and our citizens."
Adjutant General Major, General Corey Carr says his soldiers will get training on the proper use of force.
