Purdue Extension Concentrating On State Fair Farm Programs

Last updated on Thursday, July 30, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Purdue Extension will concentrate its agriculture exhibits in a single spot during next month’s Indiana State Fair.

The programs and demonstrations will be largely held in what is now named the Purdue Extension Agriculture Horticulture Building on the state fairgrounds in Indianapolis.

One exhibit will be "The Edible Journey" showing how food goes from the farm to the grocery store. Extension officials say other exhibits will feature the lives of honey bees and Indiana's native giant salamander, the hellbender. Purdue master gardeners will also offer information on plants and gardening.

Danica Kirkpatrick of Purdue's College of Agriculture says having its programs concentrated in the building will make it easier to reach fairgoers.

This year's state fair runs August 7-23.
