(INDIANAPOLIS) - Scientists have discovered a new dinosaur. Meet Wendiceratops pinhornensis.
The Triceratops' ancestor was introduced this week in a PLOS ONE article, by paleontologists Michael Ryan and David Evans. It's named after the fossil hunter who found the bones in Alberta, Canada.
Ryan and Evans say the horned Wendiceratops reveals the early ancestry of the Triceratops and the evolution of the nose horn, TIME reports.
The paleontologists say even though Wendiceratops is older, the Triceratops will remain more well-known, despite being "a relatively boring horned dinosaur," Evans said.
