(CLARK CO.) - Another traffic change is in effect for drivers on Interstate 65 in southern Indiana.
On Wednesday morning the new northbound lanes were opened as part of the Ohio River Bridges Project.
All northbound and southbound drivers have been using the southbound lanes since October.
Construction crews have been working for the past several months to demolish the old lanes of I-65 north.
They built a new roadway, which will eventually connect to the new bridge.
On Wednesday, northbound drivers were moved to the new lanes.
Eventually, southbound drivers will share the new road, which will allow crews to perform similar work on the southbound side.
When completed, the Kennedy Bridge will carry six lanes of southbound traffic and the new bridge will carry six lanes of northbound traffic.
The new bridge is expected to be ready for traffic in January.
The entire project will be completed in late 2016.
