(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis woman faces forgery, counterfeiting and other charges for allegedly defrauding more than 20 central Indiana residents through a theft scheme.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Wednesday that Kacey Rucker faces 45 criminal charges for her role in the scheme that involved stolen charge cards and forged checks.
He says the 35-year-old entered businesses in Indianapolis, Greenwood, Avon and Kokomo and stole wallets from employees as they worked. Rucker was one of two or three people who allegedly entered businesses and stole personal items.
The Indianapolis Star reports court documents show she used credit cards stolen from victims to buy items, open fraudulent credit accounts and write counterfeit checks.
Rucker is in state Department of Correction custody on an unrelated case. It wasn't immediately clear if she has an attorney.
