(LAFAYETTE) - Lafayette police say a woman rented a gun at a Lafayette shooting range and then fatally shot herself in the head.
Sgt. Mike Brown says the self-inflicted shooting occurred Saturday afternoon at the Applied Ballistics indoor range.
The Journal & Courier reports she was pronounced dead at a hospital. Her name wasn't immediately released.
Brown says no one else was injured.
Police have reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and say it appears she acted alone. They are investigating the shooting as a suicide.
Brown says the woman watched a 20-minute gun safety video that new customers are required to watch.
