(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Camby man faces federal charges for allegedly selling drugs on underground websites.
40-year-old Lee Gray was indicted Tuesday. Investigators say he used the online alias "Supremesmoke" to sell heroin for bitcoins, an online virtual currency.
Gray is accused of using an underground website, not accessible through traditional search engines, to have customers place online orders for heroin.
Investigators said Gray would ship the drugs through the U.S. Postal Service and would use Indianapolis-area return addresses that were not his own.
"The U.S. Postal Inspection Service takes very seriously its mission to deter the illegal use of the mails for any criminal activity," said Postal Inspector in Charge, E.C. Woodson. "These crimes negatively impact each and every community and household, and we stand committed to working together to identify, investigate and bring to justice those who would attempt to mask their criminal activity through the use of the mail thereby violating the sanctity of the seal."
Gray faces up to 20 years in prison for each count if convicted.
