(LAFAYETTE) - Northbound I-65 remains closed in Lafayette while engineers assess how to shore up a shaky bridge.
INDOT says soil analysts and engineers from the department, construction contractor Walsh Group, and the Federal Highway Administration are checking soil samples to see why the bridge over Wildcat Creek is settling into the ground.
Depending on the findings, they might try to fix the bridge itself, firm up the ground underneath, or both.
INDOT says it's looking into whether construction work by Walsh caused the instability in some way.
