Man Killed After Being Hit By Train

(EVANSVILLE) - The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office confirms a person is dead after a train accident.

It happened just after 7 a.m. this morning on Mill Rd., between St. Joe and Kratzville. Evansville Dispatch says they received a call from CSX saying a person had been hit by a train.

Sheriff Dave Wedding says the conductor and engineer noticed a male on the tracks and honked the train horn several times, but he was wearing headphones.

The sheriff says the male was pinned under the train after he was hit.

Rescue and police are expects crews to be on scene for at least a few more hours. He says drivers should avoid the area.

The Sheriff says the incident is being investigated as an accident and not a suicide.
