New Albany Man Accused Of Stealing Items For National Guard Armory

Last updated on Monday, August 3, 2015

(NEW ALBANY) - A New Albany man is accused of stealing items from an Indiana National Guard Armory.

In November of 2014, officials at the New Albany National Guard Armory reported that several military-style tasers and pepper spray canisters had gone missing.

Investigators soon found the items being sold on social media.

Indiana State Police detectives located more than $10,000 worth of stolen items.

Troopers arrested 23-year-old Cody Proffit Thursday morning on charges of theft.

ISP Sgt. Jerry Goodin says Proffit was not affiliated with the National Guard and police are still looking to recover several more tasers and pepper spray canisters.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts of the tasers or pepper spray canisters should contact Indiana State Police.
