(ANDERSON) - A 15-year-old male suspect in a gun store robbery in Anderson last week has turned himself in to Anderson Police.
Thieves made off with nearly 50 guns after breaking into the Gunslingers Gun Shop in Anderson last Thursday. Two of the four suspects were already in custody.
Investigators say 29-year-old Deandre Fairman promised three teenagers $1,000 to steal the guns from Gunslingers Gun Shop so he could sell them in Chicago. Fairman is still at large. He also allegedly promised the teens two guns each.
Police say the teen was accompanied by his attorney and family. He was taken into custody, and admitted to taking part in the burglary. He is being held at the Madison County Juvenile Detention Center, facing preliminary charges of burglary and carrying a handgun without a license. The two other teens allegedly involved in the burglary face the same charges.
WTHR reports Anderson Police got a break in the case when a citizen reported a juvenile throwing what was believed to be a rifle into the White River. A neighbor reported finding several tags from the Gunslingers Gun Shop on the riverbank. The investigation led detectives to 1310 Cincinnati Ave, where Jayvier Armstrong, 18, and a 17-year-old male were taken into custody. Police found bolt-cutters at the home, as well as two handguns that had been stolen during the burglary. Police determined that the 15-year-old fled from the home as officers arrived.
During the burglary, the suspects used a bat to smash through the front door, and then returned five different times over a period of three hours. Each time, they took handguns, rifles and shotguns.
Police finally got a break in the case yesterday when a neighbor spotted a 17-year-old getting rid of a gun.
Deandre Fairman is wanted for aiding and inducing burglary, as well as carrying a handgun without a license.
