Two Teens Injured In ATV Accident In Knox County

Last updated on Tuesday, August 18, 2015

(KNOX CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an ATV accident that resulted in a Knox County teen being flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville by life-flight helicopter.

At approximately 1:15 p.m. Sunday, 13-year-old Shaun Terry, of Monroe City, was operating a three-wheeler on Hamline Chapel Road near the intersection of Campbell Road when he failed to negotiate a turn and drove the ATV into a ditch roughly eight-feet in depth.

Terry suffered a head injury and hid passenger on the ATV, 13-year-old Dylan Boland, of Bicknell, complained of back pain. Boland was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, evaluated and released.

Responding agencies included Harrison Township Fire Department, Knox County Sheriff's Department, Pike County Sheriff's Department, Knox County EMS, St. Mary's Life-Flight and Indiana Conservation Officers.

Safety gear was not worn by either subject, and speed appears to be the main cause of the accident.

Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage the use of safety equipment such as helmets, gloves, riding boots and chest protectors when operating an ATV.
