Last updated on Monday, September 28, 2015

(FORT BRANCH) - Officials confirm that two people have died, and around two dozen others were injured, when a van blew a tire on I-69 at the Fort Branch exit in Gibson County around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the Gibson County Sheriff's Office, 60-year-old Gena Moise of Washington was killed in the fatal crash. Moise was originally from Haiti.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office has confirmed that 19-year-old Christela Georges has also died as a result of her injuries. Georges was 24-weeks pregnant at the time of the accident. She was also from Haiti.

The Sheriff's Office also confirmed that there were no seats in the rear of the van, but that wooden benches had been installed in their place.

Authorities say the van was traveling from Washington to a factory in Evansville.

The 16 passenger van was carrying 24 people. Three were flown from the scene by helicopter. Six people were being treated at the hospital in Princeton and 17 others at Evansville Hospitals.
