(UNDATED) - The American Cancer Society has released new guidelines for breast cancer screenings.
The recommendation suggest women with an average risk of breast cancer should begin having yearly mammograms at age 45, instead of age 40.
It is also recommending that once a woman turns age 55, mammograms can be done every other year. Women at high risk should have earlier, more regular screenings.
Women are advised to speak to their health provider to understand their risk and plan of action.
