Buck Deer Seized After Investigation from Anonymous Tip

(GUILFORD) - A buck deer was seized after Department of Natural Resources officer investigation from anonymous tip.

Indiana Conservation Officer Brad Reinholt conducted an investigation into a gunshot early Sunday morning before daylight in Dearborn County.

He returned to the same area at dark Sunday evening and located the suspected vehicle and 2 males, one 41 years old and the other 30 years old, of Tennessee, hunting.

Upon observing a dead buck deer and further questioning a confession was obtained.

Both males were charged with the illegal possession and taking of a Whitetail deer, a Class B misdemeanor; hunting with illegal devices, a Class C misdemeanor and failure to procure non-resident deer licenses, a Class C misdemeanor.

The 8 point buck and 2 firearms, a 30-06 and a 270 both high powered rifles, were seized as evidence. The deer was donated to a local family.

This case was made possible by a concerned citizen who called the Indiana Turn-In a Poacher hotline.

Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage citizens and hunters to use the TIP hotline at 1-800-TIP-IDNR or ICO Central Dispatch at (812) 873-9536 to report any hunting violations observed or known. Officers are always diligent in protection the Natural Resources and preventing them from being abused.
