(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police say an Indianapolis man has admitted to fatally shooting his 22-year-old son during a dispute over breakfast.
The Indianapolis Star reports that 46-year-old Fred Fleener III faces a voluntary manslaughter charge in the death of Fred Fleener IV.
Court documents show Fred Fleener III told police that he "snapped" because his son was "a bully." Both he and his daughter said in statements that the fatal shooting Saturday at the family's home was the result of years of bullying and abuse by Fred Fleener IV, who had bipolar disorder and other mental health issues.
The daughter told police that the fight between her father and brother started when Fred Fleener IV threw something at their cousin because he only received one breakfast platter.
A trial for Fred Fleener III is set for January 25.
