(HAMILTON COUNTY) - The addition of two lanes to I-69 in Fishers will stretch farther north than originally planned.
INDOT budgeted 85-million dollars to widen the four-lane highway to six lanes, and asked bidders how much work they could do for that price. The answer: 15 miles, to State Road 38 in Pendleton, one exit further than the original goal of State Road 13.
Indianapolis-based Milestone Contractors will also redesign the interchange at Campus Parkway in Fishers. Construction should begin early next year in Fishers and work its way north over two years.
INDOT plans to keep two lanes open in each direction during construction, though those lanes will shift frequently to accommodate the work.
INDOT is taking public comment Thursday night in Noblesville on the process and the selection of Milestone to do the work.
