(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man initially charged with murder in his young daughter’s death was found not guilty in the case this week.
Christopher Storbakken was arrested in October 2014 after his 1-year-old child died at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.
The coroner's office determined her death was a homicide. The 1-year-old died of blunt force trauma and had bruises all over her body, according to court documents.
Storbakken was watching her and her twin sister while their mother was at work. He told police he was getting the girls out of their crib after a nap when one of them came out of his arms and hit her head on the headboard of a nearby bed, according to court documents. A doctor told police the story didn't match the girl's injuries.
Storbakken was charged with murder, battery resulting in death and neglect of a dependent resulting in death in the case.
He was found not guilty on all charges during a jury trial Wednesday.
