Third Robbery In Four Days At Purdue University

Last updated on Wednesday, November 25, 2015

(LAFAYETTE) - Students at Purdue University are on high alert Tuesday after an early morning attack and robbery near campus. It’s the latest incident in a string of crimes West Lafayette Police are investigating.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. Police say a college-aged male was walking along the intersection of Pierce and Wood Streets, one block away from campus, when two men came up behind him, hit him over the head, knocked him to the ground and stole cash from him.

Police say the victim did not get a good look at his attackers other than to note it was two men wearing all black.

This is the third robbery in four days in or near campus. The other two were armed robberies involving a gun. Police aren't ready to say whether they're connected or not.

In the meantime, students say increase in these types text alerts are worrisome.

Classes end today for the holiday - meaning fewer people in town and fewer targets.
