(COLUMBUS) - Columbus police arrested a woman Friday after she allegedly left her two small children unattended in an unlocked vehicle in a store parking lot.
Columbus Police Department Sgt. Matt Harris says officers were called to Whitfield Drive at about 3:15 p.m. on a report of a vehicle parked in the fire lane beside the store with two children in the car.
The two children, 3-years-old and 12-months, were asleep in the back seat with the doors unlocked.
The child's mother, 25-year-old Deanna M. Daniel, came out of the store and began yelling at various people for calling the police.
Daniel told police that she was only in the store for a few seconds, but security video showed she had been inside for more than 10 minutes.
Daniel was arrested on two preliminary charges of neglect of a dependent.
The children were released to their father.
