(SULLIVAN) - A wrong turn had devastating consequences for a truck driver in Sullivan County, Friday afternoon.
The driver, 63-year-old Daniel Cox of Grand Ridge, Michigan, made a wrong turn exiting the Brampton Brick Factory and went the wrong direction down County Road 950 North and drove onto a railroad crossing.
The 2010 Freightliner tractor, pulling a box trailer fully loaded with bricks, became stuck on the elevated tracks and the Cox exited the vehicle and called 911.
Despite successfully alerting an oncoming CSX train to the problem, there was not enough time for the engineer to stop the 80 car-long train.
The trailer of the semi was completely destroyed, Cox nor the engineer were injured.
